OUR STORY

It's called Range
for a reason.

Not a metaphor we bolted on after the fact; the name is the firm.

Range, of skills.

Valuation, deal law, brokerage, ownership — three very different training grounds, held by three people instead of three departments.

Range, of assets.

Multifamily, mixed-use, retail, office, industrial — we're asset-class agnostic on what we develop, and deliberately more focused on what we manage for others.

Range, the mountains.

A shared love of mountains and the outdoors — the part of the name that's just true, no strategy behind it.

HOW WE STARTED

Three resumés. One decision.

Jared Rubin started on the valuation side at KPMG before joining Shapack Partners, underwriting the deals that turned Fulton Market from a meatpacking district into one of Chicago's most sought-after neighborhoods.

Seth Halpern started as a real estate attorney representing developers and lenders, then began buying and managing his own assets in Chicago and Denver while serving as General Counsel at Shapack.

Brett Katz started in brokerage at Marcus & Millichap before founding Aries Real Estate, a boutique firm built on value-add acquisitions across commercial, multifamily, and retail.

By 2021, all three had reached the same conclusion from three different directions: the underwriting discipline and reporting rigor they'd learned at institutional scale didn't have to disappear on a smaller, more personal deal — it just needed a firm built to carry it.

That firm is Range Group: institutional-quality underwriting and execution, applied to the kind of deals and properties usually handled on a boutique, personal basis.

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT

Institutional habits. Boutique attention.

VS
OUR VALUES

We run every address like it's ours.

We say what we're going to do, then we do it, which is just execution without the poster on the wall. We'd rather tell an investor or a tenant the truth about a deal before they have to ask for it, because transparency has always cost us less than the alternative eventually does.

01
Execution.

We say what we're going to do, then we do it. No poster on the wall, no mission statement doing the work a follow-through call should be doing.

02
Transparency.

You hear the truth about a deal before you have to ask for it — including the months the number isn't the one we hoped to send you.

03
Accountability.

The person who underwrote your deal is the person who answers for it. Three principals, no committee to hide behind.

04
Relationships.

Built around people before spreadsheets — the kind that are still standing long after any one deal has closed.

Let’s have a conversation.
